How do I book an appointment ?All appointments are booked online. Please visit our booking website at www.bubunyc.glossgenius.com. Select the Artist you would like to see, and add any services you would like to book. Pick an available day & time and enter your credit card information to secure your booking. You will receive a confirmation text and/or email when you are successfully booked.

I don't see a day & time that works for me when booking.The waitlist works! On the booking site, you will see a "Join Waitlist" button where you can add yourself to the rolling waitlist. With a 24 hour cancellation policy, many appointment slots open up last minute. This is the most effective way to get in touch with me about any last minute openings. I'm a new client, what service should I book?Heck Yes! I can't wait to have you in to the studio. Take a look at the service descriptions here. Generally, new clients should book for a Full Service for their first appointment. We can then decide what appointments you will need to book going forward. If you still are unsure after reading through all of the service descriptions, please text 646-785-9903 with a picture of your current hair, as well as an inspiration photo and any important details. I'm an existing client, what service should I book?Services have changed slightly in August 2022. Please refer to the services menu here. Toward the bottom of the page you will see a conversion chart that guides you based on what service you used to book. If after visiting this page you still are unsure, please feel free to reach out by text to 646-785-9903.

I have to be somewhere after my appointment, will I have enough time?All services on the booking site have a time frame listed. Pleased use this as your guide when scheduling your service. Service times are longer as of August 2022 and no one wants to be rushing! If you have specific scheduling needs, please reach out to me directly in advance of your appointment date.

What is an Express Service?This is an option for existing clients that come in more frequently (Every 8-10 weeks or less). This is an option we can decide on together to give you a more economical and timely way to upkeep your color in between larger full services. This has to be pre-approved before booking and generally includes a quick blow dry as time allows.

I don't need a haircut, how do I book without a haircut?I'm going to be honest with you, you probably need a haircut. And most of my color clients book a haircut with their color service anyway! I am, objectively, really good at the "trim" and over the years I have found this is the most effective way to grow your hair longer and thicker. Especially when doing major color services, the ends of your hair need to be trimmed to maintain healthy, amazing looking hair. If we decide we don't need a haircut, or just a small trim, I am looking forward to using that time to fully style your hair and take a few after pictures! I get my haircut by another artist, how should I book?Please reach out to me directly so we can plan out your visits specific to your hair needs! I'm happy to work with you to make sure we can continue our color, treatment or extension services.

How do I reschedule or cancel my appointment?All appointments can be rescheduled or canceled online through the booking link in your confirmation email or text. All appointments must be changed or cancelled in advance of 24 hours before your appointment. Ideally, please make any changes as soon as you know so someone can fill your spot. Any appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to 50% of the total cost of the service. If you are unable to find your text or email from Gloss Genius, please text 646-785-9903 to reschedule your appointment. Please keep in mind texts are generally checked during normal salon hours of 11am to 8pm.

Will my card be charged?No, your card will not be charged when booking online. All payments are made on the day of your service. Yes, your card will be charged if you do not give 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes. Cancellation policy charges are only made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time.

I can't make my appointment today, what do I do?Dang! I was looking forward to having you in. Please text 646-785-9903 so we can reschedule your appointment. Unfortunately, 50% of your service will have to be charged since same-day time slots are almost impossible to fill. I appreciation your understanding and respect for the cancellation policy.

Should I book a consultation with my appointment?All appointments come with a complimentary 10 minute consultation at the beginning of each appointment. If you are unsure of what to book or are looking to make a major change, please consider booking a consultation prior to booking a full appointment. We can discuss your goals, expectations, pricing and more. Consultations can be booking online here.

Should I shampoo before my appointment?For most services, it is not better to come with dirty hair. If your hair is gross, please shampoo. Just like brushing before the dentist, I would love to be all up in your hair if its on the cleaner side! 1 to 3 days since your last wash is preferred. If you are getting a bleach retouch that involves bleach on the root you will want 3-4 days of oil on your scalp. You know who you are.

Do I need to wear a mask during my appointment?Masks are optional while in the studio for all guests. If you're more comfortable if I wear my mask during the service please text me in advance or let me know at the start of your appointment. I am more than happy to accommodate for you!

What if I'm running late to my appointment?Please text me at 646-785-9903 to let me know you are running late. I book appointments very strategically and late clients can effect the whole day. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment we may have to reschedule you and the cancellation fee will apply to your service. If I can still do your service with a high quality result, we may not have time for a blow dry or as much color/cut. Please keep in mind trains and traffic are worse on the weekends and can drastically effect your commute. Leave early, I'll make you a coffee.

What should I wear to my appointment?Most appointments take time, and we try to keep the air-conditioning on during the warmer months. Layers are great! For color appointments, all precautions are taken to avoid color on clothing. Sometimes accidents do happen! If you are wearing a piece of clothing that you absolutely cannot live without, please ask for a robe to change into when you arrive for your appointment.

Can I order food during my appointment?Of course! Plenty of delicious options in the neighborhood. I usually will have light snacks and beverages available during your appointment.

What payment is accepted for my service?I accept app major credit cards either in-person or through touch-less payments from your device. I also accept Venmo or Cash payments. Cash Payments receive a 10% discount off the total service. Venmo does not count as cash as it is subject to transaction fees to accept payments. The credit card you use to book online will be available to use for any services with Danielle but not any other artists.

How does Gratuity Inclusive Pricing work?I chose to switch over to gratuity inclusive pricing to streamline the checkout process. Getting your hair done is a huge commitment of time and money, and I want both of us to be able to plan accordingly! No surprise fees or gratuity boxes to check, just your service, products and any applicable taxes. I strive to provide the highest level of service to each and every one of my clients, every time they are in the studio. I don't do this for a tip, I do it because I want you to look and feel your very best every time you leave bubu. If there is anything I can do to make your appointment more comfortable, please let me know!

Do you have an ATM?No, unfortunately not! There is a deli on every corner of the Lower East Side that will be able to help you with that!

Do you offer any discounts?Any service paid in full with Cash is subject to a 10% discount of the total price including taxes. I also offer a referral discount! Tell your friends and family to visit the studio with me (Danielle), and when they mention you, you receive $20 off your next service. No limits! I build my business by word of mouth, and I want more awesome clients like you :)
